2nfg is totally within his rights to make a video discouraging cheating. It is an opinion shared by many, and Shady is entirely against the Hypixel rules. You are 100% justified in being banned if you use it.

I would like to make it crystal clear that I do not collect your IP address, and I cannot see any personal information you provide to Teespring when you buy merch.

2nfg got a lot of things very wrong, and those are just some of them. In his brief time in The Backroom, he sent just 7 messages and instead looked for privileged messages that he leaked and took out of context. His goal is to stop people from cheating by dragging Shady’s name through the mud.

The data I do collect are simply metrics that I thought "wow wouldn't it be cool if I could see that for all of SkyBlock?" For example, Shady collects your playtime once every day that you log in with it. This allows me to tally it up and make charts with it until the cows come home. You can see a neat little one on your personalized "2021 in Review" website.

As commenters on his video have pointed out, my server uses your IP address to get the location of your ISP and then anonymizes it to within 100 kilometers. So, nowhere near a precise location. It then throws away your IP address and keeps only the very general location. Clearly, my intent is not to dox or compromise anyone, simply to make a cool 3D map of users around the world. Finally, I would also like to apologize to all current and past users for being so...shady about the information that I collect. I promise that I do not mean any harm in the data that I collect. I am a high school student who likes programming and data science. I took advantage of my success with Shady to collect data and turn them into interactive data visualizations to show off to users. All in all, I just do this for fun. Soon, I will take steps to improve transparency on the kinds of information that I collect and options for opting out of data collection.

But for now, I would like to enjoy my winter break, and so should you. Shady is close to 800 years of playtime. Don't increase that number any more.
